Roulette is a pure game of chance in which you bet on where a ball will land on a spinning wheel. The bets are easy to learn and the payouts are fixed.
The wheel
A European wheel has numbers 1–36 plus a single zero (37 pockets). An American wheel adds a double zero (38 pockets), which nearly doubles the house edge — so the single-zero version is the better choice.
Inside bets and payouts
Inside bets cover specific numbers: a single number pays 35:1, two numbers 17:1, three 11:1, four 8:1, and six 5:1. They are higher risk with bigger payouts.
Outside bets
Outside bets cover large groups: red/black, odd/even, and 1–18/19–36 all pay 1:1, while dozens and columns pay 2:1. The zero causes most even-money bets to lose, though French rules like La Partage soften that.
A grounded approach
The house edge is about 2.7% on a single-zero wheel and 5.26% on a double-zero one. Past results never affect the next spin, and no betting system overcomes the edge — so play for fun within a set budget.
